스크립트 독해
Can you eat something raw well?
(raw: 날것의)
I think one of the most famous uncooked dish is sushi.
(uncooked: 조리되지 않은)
Sushi is very popular not only in Korea but also in the world.
If you hear the word “sushi”, you might think of sashimi on top of rice.
(sashimi: 회)
However there are many types of different sushis. One of my favorite sushi is “California Roll”.
Some people in Japan don’t consider California Roll as a type of sushi.
(consider: 여기다, 고려하다)
But many people agree that California Roll is delicious.
Usually, seaweed covers rice when people make “maki”.
(seaweed: 해초, 미역)
(cover: 덮다)
If you don’t know “Maki”, you can think of “Kimbap”.
They look similar.
(similar: 비슷한)
Anyway, rice covers seaweed and other ingredients when people make California Roll or other kinds of American style sushi.
(Anyway: 어쨌든)
Usually, these types of sushi is cheaper than regular sushi.
Typical sushi can be very expensive.
(Typical: 전형적인)
Although there are cheap sushis like egg sushi, most of sushis are expensive since the ingredients of sushi must be fresh.
(since: ... 때문에)
(must: 꼭...해야한다)
Fish must be alive until it is turned into ingredients.
(alive: 살아있는)
Frozen fish should not be used when sushi is made.
(Frozen: 얼은)
Among fish, tuna is the most expensive ingredient.
(Among: ...중에)
Some tuna costs more than one hundred million won!
So some people call tuna “lottery of sea”.
(lottery: 복권)
But don’t worry.
If you are low on budget, you can also try affordable restaurants.
(low on: ...이 부족한)
If you go to restaurants serving “Omakase”, the price can be really expensive.
The price can be up to 300,000 won per a person.
If you can afford it, I suggest you to go there when you have to celebrate anniversaries or birthday.
You will be broke if you go there too often.
(broke: 돈이 없는)
In these restaurants, chefs give you whatever they want.
Sometimes, chefs ask you if you have any allergy.
Or during the course, they ask you the amount of rice.
(amount of: ...의 양)
The course has usually more than ten dishes so if you can eat a little, you better tell them to reduce the amount of rice.
(reduce: 줄이다)
You might think Sushi Omakase is too expensive.
(might: ...할 지도 모른다)
Here is another option.
Conveyor belt sushi.
(Conveyor belt sushi: 회전초밥)
You can pick whatever you want!
(pick: 고르다)
Plus, you don’t have to wait for the sushi!
You can just grab whatever on the conveyor belt.
(grab: (움켜)잡다)
Here is my tip of conveyor belt sushi place.
Don’t go to the place when it is not peak time.
(peak time: 성수기, 사람이 많이 몰리는 시간)
If you go there at that time, you wouldn’t see many sushis.
They usually serve more sushis during peak time because more people come at that time.
You may have to wait for line but I think it is worth of waiting.
(wait for line: 줄을 서다)
(worth of 명사: 명사의 가치가 있는)
Sushi looked different in the past.
(in the past: 예전에, 과거에)
And it was not expensive food.
Sushi was kind of fast food.
People sold Sushi from street vendors because it was easy and fast to make.
(street vendor: 가판, 좌판)
To make Sushi, you just need to grab rice and put sashimi on the rice.
However Japanese developed art of Sushi.
Now, many things are important.
Quality of fish is very important.
(Quality: 질)
If the fish is frozen, you have to use particular techniques to defrost the fish.
(particular: 특정한)
Sometimes, people use acupunture to knock the fish out.
(acupunture: 침술)
This technique is so useful that the skill is used by some French chefs!
And water is important too.
When you cook rice, you have to use good water.
Some people even bring the water from specific location.
(specific: 구체적인)
Not many luxurious restaurants use tap water.
(tap water: 수돗물)
Sushi is all around us now.
(all around: 사방에)
If you know a nice sushi place, please leave comments.
(leave comment: 댓글을 달다)
Goodbye.
